Overview
- Dataset generation for information products
- Extended data glossary metadata
- ODS Insert Only load strategy
- Case‑sensitive environment renaming
- Bug fixes.
New Features
- Dataset generation for information products: Implementation of a generic and reusable dataset generation framework. This enables consistent, reproducible datasets with clear traceability between source data, transformations and outputs, supporting scalability and compliance.
- ODS Insert Only load strategy: A new ODS load strategy (OI) has been introduced. This strategy appends incoming records to ODS tables without removing existing data. No duplicate detection or primary key validation is performed.
Enhancements
- Extended data glossary metadata: Extension of the data glossary with additional attribute‑level metadata, such as PII indicators, GDPR forgettability and key relationships. This information will be available in the portal and documentation.
- Case sensitive environment renaming: Improved validation to allow renaming environments where only the casing changes (for example ONS → ons), without causing conflicts.
Changes
- None
Bug Fixes
- Date conversion during staging loads: Fixed an issue where date values formatted as YYYYMMDD could fail during staging loads after upgrading to Karez 2.5.0.
- Diagnostics portal pagination: Fixed an issue where row identifiers were reset on each page, causing incorrect row actions in paginated diagnostics tables.
- Diagnostics status reporting: Fixed an issue where diagnostics could show incorrect status and error information when failures occurred earlier in a processing pipeline.
- Data mart documentation: Fixed an issue that prevented attribute definitions from being displayed in generated data mart documentation.

Upcoming Changes
- Karez 2.7.0, expected October 14th, 2026

Bug Fixes
- Extended date format support: String-to-date casting has been enhanced to support a broader range of ISO 8601 date formats (including compact representations such as YYYYMMDD). This ensures reliable conversion of date values during data loads, even when source fields are delivered as strings.
The new date/time handling introduces a breaking change. Empty strings are not considered valid dates anymore. Karez used to interpret these as 1900-01-01, which is the default SQL Server behaviour. If your sources return empty date or time strings, you need to handle this in the data pipeline that provides data to karez.
The following ISO 8601 constructs are not supported:
- Week dates (2026-W12-3)
- Ordinal dates (2026-075)
- Durations (P1DT2H)
- Intervals (2026-01-01/2026-01-02)

Bug Fixes
- Improved datamart documentation: Datamart documentation generated via the Karez portal now correctly displays attribute definitions, providing a complete and accurate overview of the data model.
- Diagnostics page – correct row actions with pagination: Row-level actions on the Diagnostics page now work correctly across all paginated pages, ensuring that details shown always match the selected row.
- More accurate diagnostics status and error reporting: Errors in the staging to HDA process are now shown correctly in the portal. When a failure occurs, the overall status is marked as Failed and the relevant error code is displayed, improving transparency and troubleshooting.

Bug Fixes
- Three issues have been resolved that caused data‑type mappings to be applied incorrectly during code generation:
- An incorrect mapping from NVARCHAR(MAX) → VARCHAR(MAX) has been removed.
- The NSC implementation now uses the environment code instead of the environment name to retrieve data‑type mapping rules.
- Data‑type mappings are now applied before column‑datatype validation, preventing validation errors for columns using unsupported types such as text.
These changes ensure that data‑type conversions are handled correctly and that code‑generation validation errors are resolved.

Bug Fixes
- During metadata reloads in Source Connect, the targetName of domains, entities, attributes, and related objects was incorrectly overwritten, even when no new value was provided. This violated NSC load principles, where optional and loosely required fields should keep their existing values unless explicitly updated.

Overview
- Revert to earlier version of generated code per environment
- Automatic deployment of Karez resources
- CRUD functionality for privileges
- Complete timelines in diagnostics graphs
- Source Connect domain resolution change
- Remove Karez version in generated code
New Features
- Revert to earlier version of generated code per environment: Currently the generated code is removed when a new version of the code is generated without the possibility to revert to the previous version. With this new functionality it will be possible to return to a previous version of generated code. (Historical code storage)
- Automatic deployment of Karez resources: Create a deployment agent in the customer environment and a deployment package with deployment resources and deployment configuration to be able to deploy new functionality automatically.
- CRUD functionality for priviliges: The privileges page now supports creating identities and role assignments directly in the portal. Users can manage roles and identities without external tools, improving flexibility and control.
Enhancements
- Source Connect domain resolution change: In previous versions, Karez used the environment name to determine the Source Connect domain when generating code. Because environment names can be changed, this could in some cases lead to unexpected behavior.
Starting with Karez 2.4.0, Karez will use the environment code instead. The environment code is immutable and therefore provides a more reliable way to resolve the correct Source Connect domain.
What this means for you
If you use Source Connect for code generation, you must update your Source Connect domain names to match the corresponding Karez environment codes. This change is required for code generation to continue working after upgrading to Karez 2.4.0. - Starting from Karez 2.4.0 the Karez version will not be added to the newly generated DDL/DML code for HDA and ODS. This prevents confusion caused by incorrect version tags. Existing code remains unaffected.
Changes
- Complete timelines in diagnostics graphs: Diagnostics graphs now display consistent timelines using time buckets for different periods (e.g., hourly for last 24 hours, daily for last 30 days). This provides clearer insights into activity trends over time.

Enhancements
- Improved Reliability for File Processing: A safeguard has been added to make the system more resilient when Azure Storage has temporary issues. If a communication error occurs while starting a process, the system will now automatically retry several times before stopping. This helps ensure that file processing continues smoothly without requiring manual action.

Overview
- Diagnostics when starting processes
- Database wakeup call if offline
New Features
- Diagnostics when starting processes: Create diagnostic record when starting processes, and show process status instead of only having diagnostic records when ingestion process has been completed
- Database wakeup call if offline: With VCore databases, Karez 2.3.0 increases the connection timeout and waits if needed for the database to wake up. This prevents processing issues and ensures diagnostics are captured
